To provide phlebotomy services to our Out patient departments acting multiple sites within Northumbria Trust. The successful candidate will be employed under the Out-patient Services and will work closely with them and their team on the other sites. A seven day service where each staff member will have a base site with the expectation of cross site working when required. The successful candidate will be an experienced or qualified phlebotomist and have experience in phlebotomy /or a willing to complete necessary training required within the initial 6 months period of employment. The Out-patient's teams on these sites are all closely aligned through the line managers working together across the sites to provide High standards of care. The successful candidate must be proficient in IT systems and be able to work autonomously in a clinic environment The teams are well-established and have a positive history of the safe, timely, effective and efficient delivery of the services associated with the department. Phlebotomy has always been a part of the daily routine within the department but the changing face of Out patients and how clinic delivery is adapting has opened these opportunities to enhance the delivery of this aspect of care. To work as part of the phlebotomy team by obtaining samples from patients by venepuncture and ensuring they are correctly labelled and transported to the Pathology Department. A Phlebotomy Service is provided to inpatient wards, outpatients and virtual outpatient clinics/departments. The service accepts referrals from GPs and Clinicians within the Business Unit. The work involves handling biological samples and paperwork associated with this process therefore the Trust and departmental health and safety policies must be adhered to at all times. The successful candidate would be expected to undertaken outpatient clinical duties. Such as working along side doctors and nurses, managing stock and carrying out day to day maintenance of the department.
